Introducing Cosmos Labs
We are excited to announce that Interchain Labs is now Cosmos Labs. This change reflects who we are today: the core team driving the development and growth arm of the Cosmos blockchain ecosystem and Cosmos technology stack.
Cosmos pioneered the idea that blockchains can and should be purpose-built for their use case to unlock their full potential. More of the world's commerce is moving on-chain and will continue to do so. We are rebranding as a sign that we're doubling down on that thesis: customizable, connected blockchains are at the forefront of how the world comes on-chain.
Why we’re becoming Cosmos Labs
Cosmos powers the largest network of Layer 1 blockchains in the world. 200+ blockchains use the Cosmos Stack in production. As of this writing, those chains who have opted-in to joining the IBC network use it to transfer an average monthly volume of >$1Bn. IBC remains the biggest, most popular non-incentivized bridge in the entire blockchain industry.
At the end of 2024, the Interchain Foundation realized that the ecosystem needed a major shift to continue to be successful in an increasingly competitive world. The Foundation acquired Skip Protocol, Inc. to accelerate strategic development and growth across the Cosmos ecosystem and the Cosmos Stack. Skip was originally renamed to Interchain Labs.
A quick summary of our 2025 work so far:
- Shipped IBC V2 and turned it into a product on the Cosmos Hub with IBC Eureka, giving Cosmos chains access to Ethereum at lower costs and with better security than existing bridges.
- Released Cosmos SDK v0.53 with no breaking changes and several new features.
- Established a partnership with Neutron to create a sustainable and incentive-aligned home for CosmWasm to thrive.
- Removed Cosmos Hub tech debt, including moving the chain back onto the main line Cosmos SDK.
- Developed and launched Cosmos EVM, which is already adopted by 10+ chains.
By becoming Cosmos Labs, we signal that we are fully aligned with the Cosmos vision and deeply embedded in its success, including elevating the mindshare of the Cosmos brand name with potential customers, existing community, and the industry.
Who we are
Cosmos Labs is a subsidiary of the Interchain Foundation (ICF) with a clear mandate: to deliver products, engineering, marketing, and growth initiatives that expand and strengthen Cosmos, which includes the Cosmos Stack, Cosmos Hub, and ATOM. From maintaining critical infrastructure to telling the story of Cosmos around the world, we work at the intersection of technology, community, and customer adoption.

What’s changing and what’s not
Skip:Go, Skip’s flagship product, is now part of the Cosmos Stack. New customers interested in integrating the cross-chain API can contact us. End users can continue to make cross-chain transfers over Skip:Go on the go.skip.build site. The other parts of the Stack - the Cosmos SDK, IBC, CometBFT, and Cosmos EVM - are still under our development mandate, as is maintenance of the Cosmos Hub blockchain. The Cosmos Github remains the central resource for Cosmos Stack code.
Expect communications about the Cosmos ecosystem and Cosmos Stack’s development and strategy to come from Cosmos Labs, while ecosystem governance, treasury, and Foundation updates will come from the Interchain Foundation.
